Told by PM the footers are being formed and poured today. Will be going to check it out this evening.
Update: all the footers were poured. PM said depending on if foundation wall guys are running behind or not they might get them formed tomorrow.
I was just looking over your blog and I noticed something that I have had questions about that I haven't gotten definite answers to and I'm hopin you can shed some light on it for me. I am in the building process as well and just had the foundation formed and poured but when the footers went in, I noticed that it was only about 6 foot below the land level, I was worried about that since the basement height is supposed to be 9ft. I'm not sure what the height of your basement is supposed to be but it doesn't seem that deep, maybe you can shed some light on how they'll achieve that height with how deep they laid the footers.
ReplyDeleteYour basement will be the correct height. Without seeing your lot, I can't tell you how they will, but most likely your basement will be partially exposed above grade. We will only have like 2 steps from our backdoor to our back yard so that's why ours is so deep.
DeleteThank you so much for that response because it actually made perfect sense to me! My PM and I had been going back and forth so I could understand it till I gave up on the conversation. I know there will be a 3 ft gradual slope on the sides of the house but he never mentioned the possibility of some part of the basement being above grade to accommodate the height of the basement, your explanation was perfect.
